Springs and Youth’s Ministry

The “Springs of Christ” is the young people’s ministry in Christ Temple of Worship. The ministry is run by a small group of committed church members lead by Mr Karisa. With the direction of our Bishop Oscar Maloba and founder of the ministry, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the group actively works with our young people from the age of five years to twelve years olds, within and outside the church. We meet every Saturday morning from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm.

Our aim is to inspire and activate our young people’s potentials in different areas of their lives; music, drama, sports, careers, domestic and social life skills while encouraging confidence building, all of course in-cooperated with the word of God. The bible tells us in the book of Proverbs 22:6 to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” In all the activities we carry out in this ministry, instilling the word of God in the minds of our young people is key in preparing them for their adulthood.

Our young people regularly ministers in performing arts; singing, miming, drama and dancing during many of our church services and functions, and they also minister in other churches and community activities. During school holidays, we organise various activities by taking the young people on day and weekend trips; to museums, swimming, indoor and outdoor sports. These activities allow them to stimulate their minds and broaden their horizons. We also have discussions around the word of God and organise bible quizzes.

Our motto in this department is based on the word of Paul the Apostle to the Philippians; Philippians 4:13 which say “I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me.” We use this scripture to encourage and motivate our young people, particularly the ones who are reserved, shy and lack confidence and evidently, it has proved fruitful over the years. As Christ Temple of worship Ministry, we take pride in our young people’s achievements. Most of the earlier members, who joined the ministry when it was first started, have gone to do greater things in their lives. Some of those young people are now in universities and colleges studying law, entrepreneurship and medicine, while some have become musicians, choir members of our church and ministers of the word.

Here is a sample of the testimonies from some of the earlier members.

Tashinga Chitakara: “Springs of Christ Ministry gave me the opportunity to meet and make new friends and did things I wouldn’t normally do. I was also able to do something productive with my Saturdays, rather than just staying at home doing nothing. I become an active member of the group and took part in drama, miming and dancing and also participated in bible discussions".

Sharon Ogambo: “Being part of the Springs of Christ helped me to become more confident within myself. Being in a group of over twenty members and from different countries was such a unique experience. I was also able to learn about the bible in a way that, as a young adult I can now pray on my own or in a group. By the time I went to high school, I had built up my self-esteem and was able to discover talents like miming and dancing which I never knew I had in me. Most importantly, the group helped me to grow spiritually.”

Kumbirai Chitakara:” Moving to England was definitely a culture shock for me. Attending Springs of Christ helped me to break into the culture and still remain grounded. I always looked forward to going to springs after a long and busy week at school because I felt comfortable there, knowing I could be myself and have fun as we all got involved in the dramas, singing and dancing.”
